Valentine's Shaker Card

Hello, I thought I would share one of my Valentine's cards.  I tried my very first Shaker Card style and I was pleased with how it turned out.  I managed to get some dinky little hearts last year and now was the perfect opportunity to use these.

I don't know why I haven't done this type of card before but I think I will do more as  I think they are fun and a bit different.  I am still working on my photographing skills that I shared in my last post.

Thank you for stopping by today

Blue Tit - Watercolour Step by Step

Good morning, today I am sharing with you my latest watercolour project. I promised myself that I would paint more this year and so far I am really enjoying it.  Again this was another fantastic watercolour project step by step by Paul Clark over on his You Tube channel.  I love painting nature and birds.

I used again not very many colours here and I think it creates a harmonious look.  I love Saunders Waterford paper it's a absolute joy to paint on.  I used to always think the quality of the paper wasn't a big deal as I'm a beginner right? Wrong, it makes such an important difference to the blending capabilities and holding water as well, not to mention the beautiful blooms that can be achieved.

This step by step can be found over on Paul's You Tube Channel here.  His line drawing is available here.  Try it, it's really fun.

Floral Card

I thought I would share my latest make with you.  I decided to make a head start on Mothering Sunday. I had a set of Pink Fresh stamps that came free with Simply Cards and Papercraft and wanted to use these.  They are such a lovely set of stamps and sentiments. I wanted to make a really nice card for my mum for Mother’s day.

I used a pre-made 8 x 8 inch scalloped square card blank for the base, layered onto some raspberry coloured card, I stamped one of the floral sprays then coloured using Derwent Studio 24 pencils in shades of lavender and rose. I finished with sparkle pens.  I fussy cut out the sprays and used some foam sticky pads to raise them for more dimension.  I then cut a oval to create the vase and embossed this for some texture.  I also foam mounted this for added depth.  I drew a border with a black fine liner and added faux pearls. This was demonstrated in the magazine that came with the stamps.  The finished result is a very pretty floral card.

Love Is In The Air

Hi everyone, I wanted to share a few of my recent makes. These have been added to my shop over on Made Me.  I thought I would try some CAS card styles this year.  I am also trying to improve my photography skills and watched a fantastic Creative Live video by Candice Stringham on Craft Photography and it's a real eye opener.  I don't own a digital camera but I have learned so much. There is over 9 hours of content on this class and I can see me revisiting it over and over again.  So I am trying to make my photographs more interesting, it's a work in progress.  I came by this class whilst visiting the beautiful Lime Doodle Design blog by Debby Hughes, now this is an inspirational blog and her photography skills are really beautiful. Debby has got a whole section dedicated to helping others which is incredibly generous of her. She documents her own photography journey through the years. I am very much an amateur when it comes to both blogging and taking photographs of my crafts.  I hope to learn more over the coming year and try to build on these skills.

Mr Fox

Hi there, I hope everyone is keeping warm, safe and well.  It's been so cold recently.   I wanted to share my latest art project, Mr Fox I completed in just over an hour at the weekend.  I am very pleased at how I managed to actually capture the essence of this without going into pain staking details of painting every aspect of fur and foliage.  I think I like this style of painting, quick and loose.

I enjoyed the spontaneity of the water and the paint using only 4 colours.  This was demonstrated by Paul Clark over on his You Tube channel.  The line drawing is available over on his website free to use and download.  I am always incredibly thankful for these artist who generously teach others for free.  Paul also runs lessons / workshops again available over on his site.

Kick Start my Creative Goals

Hi there, hope everyone is keeping safe and well.  It's been several weeks since I have posted anything. I have continued with my artwork and have been loving my patreon membership following the lovely Louise De Masi's tutorials.  I finished 2020 with this beautiful crow. I love crow's they are so intelligent.  I used a combination of purples and blues with a touch of black for this beautiful crow.  I will frame this one I think.

So on to my goals for this year, I think I will need to start making some cards again.   I have not made any for a while.  I love card making but it my enthusiasm ebbs and flows. Unlike the painting above, which took several hours to complete, a card is a like a miniature work of art in it's own right so I get that instant gratification.

I aim about to start a new monthly painting project either watercolour/acrylic/pastel - I aim to do at least one painting a month and start making some more cards for upcoming occasions and re stock my shop. I am also going to give my little online shop a little revamp. I might start selling a few prints if I get the time.  The biggest goal is that I also need to decorate and re-organise my craft space.  I'm hoping 2021 will be a good creative one.  If you have a creative goal for the year ahead, let me know in the comments below I love to hear what you are up to x

Rekindling An Old Love Of Art

Hello everyone, it's been a while since I last posted on my blog, life seems to just get in the way sometimes and before you know it a few weeks have turned into months!   Where has this year gone!   I adore this time of year.  I love the autumnal colours of the landscape and where I live I am surrounding by trees and they are glorious.  It signals change to me.  I  was in the garden planting bulbs and it was nice to reflect on my little garden this year.  I am watching it slowly go to sleep ready for the winter, slightly sad to see everything fading but I know it will spring back to life again.  So what have I been up to recently, well I haven't made any cards for a while.  I seem to do this, get passionate about something then I lose interest for a while.  So in the meantime, I have rediscovered my love of painting and drawing. I have recently joined The SAA ( Supporting All Artists ) and it's a wonderful community of artists of all abilities.  There is a wealth of information and tutorials on there are brilliant..  I am keen to start learning.  I also have signed up to Patreon Lousie De Masi and she is a wonderful artist in Australia.  So I am hoping to finally release my inner artist.  Here are are a few of my recent amateur attempts.  I hope to keep you posted on my new journey.
