Something Different - Spanish Ears

Hello everyone, hope everyone is keeping safe and well.  Some time ago I took up another hobby alongside my cardmaking/art, crochet. Now I don't need more hobbies but I found myself wanted to crochet.  I am left handed so after some frustration and a whole lot of you tube videos, thanks to Bella Crochet in particular and the Yarn Crowd, I managed to actually crotchet.  Fast forward a few years and I am hooked.  Anyway, those of you who follow me will know, I love craft magazines ( bit of self confessed mag addict ! I love the freebies ! ) I subscribed to Simply Crochet for a while and this beautiful majestic Elephant Head appeared in a free pattern booklet.  I had to have a go.  I took my the whole of the Summer 2018 to do. I love my elephant head, it's a huge colourful beautiful creation that lives in my craft room.

The head dress was crocheted using the silver discs threaded onto some silver yarn
There are beads all around the head dress.

The elephant trunk and head was worked in one piece, the ears, tusks, eyes, and Mandela's were all worked separately.

This particular summer, I injured my hand and had to recuperate at home but fortunately it did not affect my crochet ability and I was able to carry on with my project.  When I got married in August 2018, I took my Nellie project to Majorca on my honeymoon and completed the enormous ears, I used to crochet around the swimming pool ! So effectively the ears are Spanish!

I utterly adore my gorgeous bright elephant.

Happy Crafting

Sunshine Bouquet Delight

Hello, hope your all safe and well.  Today I'm sharing my latest card with you.   You can join  in the fun over at AUD Sentiments Challenge Blog and Polkadoodles are hosting this week's challenge.

I've used Sunshine Bouquet  Delight this time and chosen to colour her with pencils, mapping out my colours starting from light to dark, choosing a couple of shades in each colour family.  I pick the colours using my colour swatch book where I keep all my colours in colour family so easier to select what colours I want to work with.

I've  used pinks and greens as these are my favourite colour combo's.

I used some paper roses and foliage to finish off the card.

LeAnn's Party

Hello, hope everyone is safe and well.  There is another challenge over at TTCRD this week hosted by LeAnn's World.  The prize for this week's challenge is 2 digital stamps from their store.

So back to my project, this lovely image is LeAnn's Party digi stamp.  I coloured her with pencils and finished off with gel glitter pens.  I opted for a blue / yellow theme and thought it makes a nice vibrant card.

I wanted to go for something bright and cheery for this cute image

The created a yellow card base, then I embossed the front of the card using a free totally tropical 5 x 7  embossing folder that came with issue 205 Simply Cards and Papercraft.  I then choose some nice floral papers and added a green border and finished with some faux gems.

Batty Bones

Hello, hope everyone is doing well. Today I am sharing with you my latest design team make for Colour it Create it Show if Off challenge.  I'm using this lovely cute image Batty Bones from the talented Sherri Baldy.

I coloured her with my Spectrum Noir alcohol markers, which I am still finding my feet with. I am not as confident using alcohol markers as I am with my trusty pencils but they say practice makes perfect.  I love working with digital images as I find them so versatile. I printed the design off onto some super smooth card stock designed for alcohol markers and mounted onto black card to create a thin black border.  I then embossed a piece of black card stock then ran over it with some galaxy gold Dew Drop Ink and mounted onto some ombre glitter card.  The card blank is black and the paper was free, link below.  I choose the cerise pink and orange spiderweb paper and mounted onto ombre pink/gold glitter card.  I finished off with fancy corners in gold to frame the design with some faux pearls coloured black with my alcohol marker.

Today,  I'm sharing this card that I made for this weeks Team A over on Through The Craft Room Door, we are sponsored by 2 great companies this week so lots of goodies up for grabs. As always the theme is anything goes.  I've used this digi stamp from Bugaboo Stamps.  I set to work coloring it with my pencils as always mapping from light to dark, I used a mix of  alcohol pens and pencil  for the bird details.  A lovely simple design to work with and I am happy with the overall result.  Just added a sentiment and ribbon in matching colours. It's a great design for a quick card, admittedly the colouring did take a while though.

Birthday Parade - Happy Times

Hello, hope everyone is staying safe and well.  I'm sharing this card with you for the latest challenge over at AUD Sentiments Challenge Blog. who are hosting this week's challenge.

I've used this cute digi stamp from Di's Digi Stamps, Birthday Parade.  I coloured this with pencils for a lovely soft effect, which so far I can only achieve with pencils.  I always map out my colours first lightest working up to darkest using at least 2 in each colour family.  I have a book with all my colour swatches so I can refer to which is very handy to select a colour at a glance. I group them by shade rather than brand.  The background was created with LOTV Watercolour Backgrounds.

I added the bunting and sentiment to finish off this adorable sweet image.  I wanted soft summery colours and my favourite colour combos are pink and green.

Such a cute image, I love Di's digi stamps they are so adorable.

I just love LOTV new watercolour backgrounds, they are so versatile.  I  did the background first then imported the image over the top, printed it out then coloured it.  It was finished with some sparkle pens on the hat and balloons.

Magical Unicorn Winter

Hello, I'm thrilled to announce that I have become the newest member of  Colour it Create It Show it Off  Challenge Blog Design Team for Sherri Baldy - My bestie! I am really looking forward to collaborating with them and working with Sherri's gorgeous designs.  I'm a little bit in love with these adorable big eyed girls and can see a collection growing before my eyes !!!

Today I am working with this gorgeous design Doll 3 Pinky Pop Stardust Magical Unicorn Bestie,
First I created the card background using LOTV newest range of watercolour background elements, I'm sure you will agree these are so versatile and the possibilities are endless! I had a lot of fun playing with the different effects you can get.   I created some pastel stripes using the background elements pastels in pink and greens.  I imported the digital design and placed her over the top. I printed this out and then coloured her using a variety of pencils, Arteza, Spectrum Noir and Faber Castell.

I then backed this onto a Aqua coloured card base, I picked up some really thick multi coloured card from Lidl at the weekend it's brilliant at 270gsm and only £1.99 for a thick pad it makes a great card base.
I then used Hunkydory Moonstone Dies from their new Christmas range, the corner die to do the card edges  and die cut some snowflakes using the same set.
I then added the sentiment, stamping it with coordinating ink from Versamagic Chalk Sea Breeze
Finished off with some sparkle here and there.
